Shreya Kumar - Indian Classical Dance in Delhi

Week 2 - 3rd June to 9th June 2005

On Friday the 3rd I paid a visit to the Song and Drama division of the Soochna Bhawan at Lodhi road. I got information on some of the folk dancers but the information was not good enough as they do not have a list of their pay roll dancers themselves. I need to go again sometime next week.

On Monday Anju and I went to Kalakar colony at Shadipur depot where I managed to get information on eight folk dancers. They seemed quite excited about their newfound publicity and it was a good experience interacting with them. Well my computer is finally in working condition and I fed in the last week’s interviews I took into Microsoft word. Meanwhile I did fix an appointment with Odissi danseuse Kiran Segal at her residence at Mandakini Enclave. As I told you in my last weeks report most of the artists are out of town so could not manage much. I took her interview on the 9th the last day of the week. The database section in my project has finally started taking shape with about 15 new names excluding from the directory that already exists.
