Shaurya Theatre Group
Compiled by Mrinalini from Vasant Valley School

Shaurya is a team of professional from the arenas of education, mass communication and performing arts. The emergence of Shaurya in 1998 was a culmination of efforts of teachers, artists, composers, designers, choreographers and social workers. Their works and experiments were strongly driven by an appreciation of art and its practice. These artists view the same as a means towards creating a unique bridge between a range of diverse realms, which are not normally or visibly in communication with each other. So far Shaurya has attempted to explore new frontiers in the development and promotion of cultural exchanges and international understanding.

Shaurya has envisioned to extend its expertise for enhanced cross cultural exchanges to focus on all aspects of creative art, emphasizing local customs and traditions, ancient wisdom and heritage and including forest wealth in order to evolve a new cultural and ecologically sustainable yet progressive model. Shaurya offers training workshops for teachers to hone their artistic skills and techniques in order to make their classroom teaching more effective and enjoyable.

Special emphasis is layed on education through theatre in order to make emotive and reflecting aspects of learning an integral part of the education system. It stives to instill self confidence and determination, thereby developing a positive attitude in the children and more so amongst special children with orthopaedic and learning disabilities.

Hence organizing THEATRE IN EDUCATION (TIE) workshops for children throughout their academic session is Shauryas regular feature.
