Mukesh Sharma is India's leding exponent of Sarod. His highly versatile and esthetic perception of the Sarod has enabled
him to touch most profound depths of his instruments. His purity of style, uniqueness of imagination with his brilliant technique
in which he blends the elements of 'Gayaki i.e. vocal rendering and "Layakari" i.e. Instrumental rhythmic patterns, make his recitals
enchanting.
The outstanding feature of his rendering is that it not only reflects the musicians mood and his nuances but also adds to the overall power
and effect of the ragas. His music is filled with melodic command and rhythmic complexity making for an experience that is incomparably sweet,
melancholic and joyous.
His father late Pandit Rasik Bihari Lal was an eminent Sarod artist. A disciple of great Sarangi Maestro Pandit Ram Narayan, Mukesh had his initial
training from late Pt. Suprabhat Paul, late Dr. Ramaballabh Mishra and Pt. Birju Maharaj. He has also received guidance from the Sarod Mastero Ustad
Amjad Ali Khan.
He has received a senior fellowship from the ministry of Culture, Govt. of India.
Mukesh Sharma has created an enviable niche for himself in the field of fusion music and has worked with various musician from world over.
He has performed creditably at various major concerts in India, France, Germany, Spain, UK, Latvia, Russia, Mauritius, Reunion Island, Singapore, Bangladesh,

The homage paid to Maestro Octavio Paz would have been incomplete were it not for your musical expertise on the sarod. The pleasing sensation of the music
that rippled through the air last night, did indded lend a special touch the whole programme.

I found in Mukesh a great sarodist in the making. The manner in which he was able to harness the turbulent sarod of Pathan orgin and bring out even intimate
nuances.

There is charming lilt and effervescence in the swift staccato sequences Mukesh Sharma produces on his sarod. It proves his prowess at the strike. His sliding fingertips
reveal a palpitating habitation of fine microtones.
