A vibrant living tradition

This is a living tradition. A living history. When the exponent of the art is no more it feels as if the art is stagnant. But the contemporary painters, the descendants of  Mansur, are constantly adapting the art of Mughal Miniatures to the new needs and demands of contemporary admirers and connoisseurs.

Aspects, which were absolutely unknown to the earlier painters, have been introduced in contemporary works. For example, the earlier paintings do not contain any geometrical, environmental and perspective approaches. All these contemporary demands have been introduced in the miniatures within the traditional framework.

The contemporary admirers have often complained that the Miniatures cannot cover the large walls specially made for decorative purposes. Another complaint is that the elderly admirers aren't able to view these paintings in detail due to their small size. Keeping in view these demands the painters have developed a larger size, comparable to European Paintings which can cover the large walls and the beauty of characters, expressions etc. can be comfortably viewed, even from a distance. There are also variations on the subjects of the paintings
