Art form - Puppet play is based on popular legends and can be performed only by skilled puppeteers. Displaying his skill in making the puppet's act and dance, the puppeteer is accompanied by a woman, usually his wife, who plays the music.

About the artist - Babul Lal Bhat is 42 years old but was only 10 when he learned his art from his brother. His dad was also a puppeteer.
He decided to do this art first by pleasure and then because It' s, also, a livehood. He does puppet shows but his main and permanent resource of income is to sell his handicraft in DelhiHat, a well know handicraft market in New Delhi. His wife makes the puppets clothes and goes with him to sell the items. His kids as well, are helping him. Rahul (17 years old) the oldest of his kids, is very capable.

Teaching skills - He is always ready to teach to anyone who want to learn how to make puppet and many different handicraft as Rajasthani camels or elephants.

Performance - Previously he was living in Rajasthan (Sikhar). But since Delhi is a good platform to travel around India and abroad, he has chosen to settle down here. Then he has been many times in Chandigarh, DeraDun, Musoorie, Faridabad and Agra to sell his handicraft and make shows. He, also, been in Dubai (in march 2000) for the Indian fair shopping festival and got a certificate of merit since his performances were very appreciated.
