Participatedin a Conference organized by the Institute of Historical Research, SeoulNational University, Seoul, Republic of Korea on “Political Legacies ofColonialism in Asia” held on 7th November2008.    My presentation was titled “Madarsa Education and theState in Northern India: Issues of Ideology and Identity in Pre-Colonial andPost-Colonial Era” (now published, for details see above)

 

AWARDS AND DISTINCTIONS

Theedited volume, MASNAD-E FAQR-O IRSHAD: TAREEKH KHANWADAE KARIMIA NAEEMIA SALON,[a documentary history of a Sufi establishment from mid 17thcenturyto the present containing rare Persian, Urdu and English documents], Saqi BookDepot, Delhi – 2003,   was adjudged as best one for the ‘research andcompilation’ (Tahqiq wa Tadwin) and was selected for the award by Urdu Academy,Delhi, (Government of N.C.T. of Delhi) in 2003 with a citation, plaque and cashaward of Rs. 5100.

Anothervolume (jointly edited), AHD- E  WUSTA KA HINDUSTAN: TASSAWUF ,ADAB AURMUSLIM THAQAFAT Sufism ,Literature and Muslim  Civilization in MedievalIndia),Saqi Book  Depot.Delhi-2009, also adjudged as the best adjudged asbest one for the ‘research and compilation’ (Tahqiq wa Tadwin) and was selectedfor the award by Urdu Academy, Delhi, (Government of N.C.T. of Delhi) in 2010with a citation, plaque and cash award of Rs. 5100.

Member,Indian History Congress, served as its Joint Secretary and Incharge, PermanentOffice, (1996-1998) and an Executive Member in 2008-09; elected again as JointSecretary and Incharge, Permanent Office for a period of three years(2009-2011).

 Member,U.P. History Congress, served as its Executive Member, Joint Secretary and nowworking as the General Secretary since 2005.

As theOrganizing Secretary, hosted the 68th Session of the Indian HistoryCongress, attended by about 1600 outstation delegates after a gap of 46 yearsin University of Delhi, under the aegis of the Department of History, 28-30December 2007.

As theOrganizing Secretary, hosted the 70th Session of the Indian History Congress,attended by about 900 outstation delegates within three years in the Universityof Delhi, under the aegis of the Department of History, 15-17 May 2010.
