INTRODUCTION

The mention of the word 'rock band' brings along with it the image of a long haired man dressed in leather banging his head senselessly. The style and appearance along with the music played by rock bands has undergone considerable changes in the past decade and a half. In the past, rock bands were viewed as a thing of the west. However, this is not the case any more as bands are flooding India not only in cities like Bangalore and Bombay but in Delhi as well. The capital city is now one of the rock hubs of the country with a new band emerging almost everyday. Thus, the culture of rock bands has crawled into the lives of the youth of Delhi which is hard to ignore.



PLAN OF ACTION:

1. Give a background of the rock culture in the city and also collect information about the amateur bands in the city.
2. Interviewing at least 2-3 bands that are Delhi based.
3. Contributing to the existing music directory on the site by collecting information about

  • Shops/sites that sell instruments,

  • Institutions/sites/tutors/stores that sell books that teach music,

  • Shops/sites that sell electronic music equipment.

    • 4. Providing information about platforms that are provided for bands to perform and compete.
    5. Gathering information regarding music studios where bands can record their songs.
    6. Collecting information about the earnings of bands.

    (It is to be noted that the information and project revolves around amateur bands)



    OBJECTIVES:

    With the help of my project I would like to help up and coming as well as already established amateur bands in and around the city. Also providing information about Delhi based amateur bands to emphasize the growing culture of rock in the city.
